But after it became clear that the two sides don&#8217;t intend to give ground, District Judge Richard Berman held a brief hearing to announce that he&#8217;ll rule on the case early this week.<\/p>\n<p>In another development, Jane Rosenberg, the courtroom sketch artist <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/thetwo-way\/2015\/08\/13\/432064785\/tom-bradys-courtroom-sketch-spawns-internet-gold\">whose vision of Brady<\/a> at an earlier appearance in Manhattan Federal Court sparked a flood of interest and commentary, issued a new sketch of the quarterback Monday. In May, the NFL <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/thetwo-way\/2015\/05\/11\/406009797\/nfl-suspends-tom-brady-for-4-games-over-deflategate-scandal\">suspended the quarterback<\/a> and levied a $1 million fine on his team, which also lost several draft picks.<\/p>\n<p>From Boston&#8217;s member station WBUR, criminal law professor Robert Blecker writes today about the Patriots&#8217; <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/cognoscenti.wbur.org\/2015\/08\/31\/patriots-roger-goodell-tom-brady-court-robert-blecker\">&#8220;false appearance of guilt&#8221; in the case<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Like others, Blecker notes that Brady&#8217;s punishment was doled out after the NFL-sponsored <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/thetwo-way\/2015\/05\/06\/404721770\/nfl-report-more-probable-than-not-that-patriots-workers-tampered-with-footballs\">Wells report<\/a> found &#8220;it is more probable than not that Tom Brady was at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No eyewitnesses, and no real proof,&#8221; writes Blecker, who also says he isn&#8217;t a Patriots fan. &#8220;No matter.
