Warner Bros. big Comic-Con panel isn’t until Saturday morning, but it would seem like the Internet has already scooped<\/a> what would certainly have been one of their big reveals: Ben Affleck<\/strong> will star in, co-write, and direct a solo Batman<\/em><\/strong> movie.<\/p>\n

This isn’t exactly coming out of left field since rumors about a new Batman movie have been swirling for a while, but now we have some finer details about who all is involved. Affleck’s writing partner on the project will be Geoff Johns<\/strong>, one of the most important figures in DC Comics. He’s not only a prolific writer in print and the Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics, but he’s also currently a writer and producer on the surprisingly great DC Comics shows Arrow<\/em> and The Flash<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The news gets better from there, too. According to Deadline<\/a>, Affleck and Johns will be turning in their script before the summer is over, but that they won’t actually be shooting the movie until probably a year later at the earliest. So this project isn’t just some rush job being churned out to fill a release date slot. They’re taking their time with this one, which is understandable considering they’ve got Christopher Nolan’s shoes to fill.<\/p>\n

So while this solo Batman movie may not come out until 2018 at the earliest (it won’t come out before 2017’s Justice League<\/em>), fans can see Affleck’s caped crusader twice in 2016 thanks to both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice<\/em> and an appearance in Suicide Squad<\/em>.<\/p>\n
