Blazer, who has pleaded guilty and turned informant against corruption in FIFA, is said to have personally <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/2015\/05\/30\/410752409\/the-big-numbers-behind-the-beautiful-games-ugly-scandal\">misappropriated $15 million<\/a> during that period.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s decision was based on an investigation by FIFA&#8217;s ethics committee.<\/p>\n<p>The corruption scandal at soccer&#8217;s governing body <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/thetwo-way\/2015\/06\/02\/411485116\/amid-bribery-scandal-fifa-president-sepp-blatter-will-resign\">forced the resignation<\/a> in June of its chief, Sepp Blatter, who had been re-elected to another term as president just days earlier.
