\"\"<\/a>Charter Communications <\/span>may be the<\/span> first pay TV <\/span>provider<\/span> to integrate online video <\/span>content material<\/span> from Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu with its <\/span>TV<\/span> Everywhere portal. The MSO <\/span>mentioned<\/span> Tuesday that <\/span>it will<\/span> also let <\/span>subscribers<\/span> use <\/span>cell phones<\/span> and tablets next year to search both <\/span>internet<\/span> video from pay TV networks <\/span>and<\/span> over-the-top video providers, <\/span>but it<\/span> <\/span>did not<\/span> announce plans to distribute OTT <\/span>content material<\/span> through cable set-tops.<\/p>\n

With Charter <\/span>confirming<\/span> Tuesday that it lost 64,500 video <\/span>subscribers<\/span> <\/span>throughout the<\/span> third quarter, its Charter.net announcement <\/span>could<\/span> help its <\/span>marketing and advertising<\/span> efforts <\/span>given that<\/span> it can boast that <\/span>it’s<\/span> offering subscribers something that <\/span>competitors<\/span> <\/span>such as<\/span> AT&T and DirecTV aren’t doing through their <\/span>websites<\/span>.<\/p>\n

But Charter <\/span>doesn’t have<\/span> a working <\/span>relationship<\/span> with Netflix, Amazon or Hulu – <\/span>it is<\/span> just helping to drive traffic to <\/span>TV<\/span> <\/span>shows<\/span> and <\/span>films<\/span> <\/span>distributed by<\/span> those <\/span>providers<\/span>. Most Charter <\/span>subscribers<\/span> <\/span>that<\/span> <\/span>currently<\/span> use Amazon, Netflix or Hulu <\/span>may<\/span> continue to navigate directly to those <\/span>internet sites<\/span>, rather than use the Charter.net portal.<\/span><\/p>\n
