It is the largest jackpot payout to a single winner in U. S. history, according to a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/sceducationlottery.com\/winners\/NewsDisplayArticle.asp?ID=2920\">statement<\/a> by South Carolina Education Lottery Commission.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are delighted that the winner is a South Carolinian and has come forward to claim this remarkable prize,&#8221; said Hogan Brown, the commission&#8217;s executive director.<\/p>\n<p>South Carolina is one in only a handful of states that allows lottery winners to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc10.com\/article\/news\/nation-world\/why-we-might-never-know-who-won-the-15-billion-mega-millions-jackpot\/607482329\">keep their identities secret<\/a>.
