While Pittsburgher’s often like to claim Wiz is from their city, he’s technically not a native although he has spent most of his life in the area. He was born to two military serving parents who divorced when Wiz was three years old. His parents military careers’ forced him to move around the world, having spent time in England, Japan and Germany before settling in Pittsburgh.
His music career started at a young age, and he was able to release his first mixtape, Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania, around the time of his graduation from Allderdice high school. Subsequently, he released Shove and Prove, his first album, the following year. For this, music magazine Rolling Stone named him as an artist to watch in 2006.
Since then, Khalifa has been scorching the rap scene with albums. He’s worked with Snoop, Method Man and Wu-Tang, among other big names in the rap scene. At the young age of 24, he is sure to experience more success.
