The Top Ten Performing Airlines
Inexpensive flight companies were honored for their excellent performance last year, and their results were reflected in the annual Changi Airline Awards on Monday.
Of the top ten performing flight companies for passenger carriage, half were affordable carriers. Among them, Tiger Airways and Jetstar Asia took third and fourth places respectively, right behind first-placed Singapore Airlines and second-placed SilkAir.
Other companies that made the list were Qantas Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, AirAsia, and Indonesia AirAsia, Emirates and Thai Airways International.
Turkish Airlines was named Partner of the Year for its efforts to advertise traffic between Singapore and Turkey.
Ever since 2010, the airline has held joint marketing and advertising projects with the airport, and the airline now operates daily flights between Singapore and Istanbul, up from five times per week previously.
Singapore Airlines Cargo was awarded the leading carrier in 2010 by Cargo Carriage, with Cathay Pacific Airways arriving in second, and then FedEx Express third.
