It Runs in The Family: Beck’s Little Sister, The New Face of Electro-Pop

Alyssa Suede might not share a last name with her older brother, Grammy award-winning musician Beck, but she shares the same dad.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, October 14, 2015 /(AN)/ — Alyssa Suede might not Final alyssa imageshare a last name with her older brother, Grammy award-winning musician Beck, but she shares the same dad. Beck redefined rock in the mid ‘90s when Suede was just a little kid. Now she’s all grown up and taking the electro-pop scene by storm – driving it, full gear, with her new project Rome Will Burn.

Before feeling the magnetic pull to the family business, Suede spent her childhood in ballet studios and on ice training for the Olympics, where she nursed a love for the music she skated to: Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, and Stravinsky. Her passion for the classics never abated and Suede found it to be shared by internationally renowned DJ /electric violinist Manifesto, the other half of Rome Will Burn and Suede’s perfect counterpart. Taking their passion for classic and folk elements and infusing them into expertly crafted electronica – it’s simply not enough to categorize Rome Will Burn as the next step in a musical evolution. It’s more like a revolution, according to their fans. And they have fans in high places.

Sara QuoteThe first was Suede’s father, composer/arranger David Campbell who promptly took on the band even though his plate was already full working on projects with artists like St. Vincent and Taylor Swift. Says Campbell of RWB, “One of the reasons I enjoy working with Rome Will Burn is that they have a focus on strong melodies which I don’t hear enough of with EDM type groups.”

The unique combination of Manifesto’s electric violin and electronic beats combined with Suede’s melodic songwriting and commanding vocals caught the interest of iconic music producer Randy Jackson – who guided the star duo in crafting great songs during the recording process for their debut album.

Rome Will Burn’s self-titled Debut EP is slated to be released worldwide October 20th, 2015 on Blue Mask Records – sister label to Pocket Kid Records (the home of rock act, Dead Sara). But don’t mistake Alyssa Suede’s big eyes for wide. Despite her youth, this rising star is far from green, having performed for the better part of a decade in the small but venerated venues that launched a laundry list of household names, including Katy Perry, Mumford and Sons, Adele, and Lana Del Rey. They paid their dues, and so too did Suede, playing hometown Los Angeles venues like The Echo, The Viper Room, Hotel Café, as well as all over NYC (including Sidewalk Café where her brother used to perform when he was starting out) — not to mention everywhere in between… Sundance, SXSW, The Bluebird Café in Nashville.

Already professionally trained in figure skating, dancing, and musical theater, Suede was ideally positioned to work with choreographer Tony Michaels who helped take the band’s performance to the next level. It was after attending one of their early shows that Michaels expressed a desire to work with the band. The result? Rome Will Burn has developed a truly spellbinding show. Michaels, who has worked with artists such as Beyonce, NSYNC, and J. Lo, was impressed, calling Rome Will Burn, “one of the most innovative, mystical duos I’ve ever worked with.”

All told, Suede is equally captivating on recordings and in live performance. The EP sizzles with her powerful vocals and quirky vocal styling that draws comparisons to Ellie Goulding. Theatrically her performances rival Lady Gaga, as is apparent in RWB’s de-but video, CHAMELEON, produced, directed & edited by Gavin Michael Booth, director of The Scarehouse film (Universal) and the man behind music videos for such acts as Third Eye Blind and The Afters. The video can be seen on Vevo and Youtube.

In a word, Alyssa Suede is “electrifying.” Sara Ventan – Me You World
