Rebels Driven Into Tunisia

Muammar Gaddafi’s forces in western Libya attacked a rebel border outpost Thursday, driving the opposition soldiers into Tunisia. The Dehiba-Wazin border crossing had been in rebel hands since last week. Gaddafi seems intent on capturing the few remaining rebel outposts in the west. His troops also struck the town of Zintan with a barrage of 80 Russian-made Grad missiles.

The pattern of fighting is much different than the back-and-forth battles that took place along the Mediterranean coast just two weeks ago. The stalemate has prompted calls from the rebels for more NATO airstrikes

Misrata is still under siege by government tanks and heavy artillery. A few aid ships have been able to dock during lulls in the shelling, delivering supplies and ferrying out the wounded and refugees. One ship carrying 850 migrants reached Benghazi Thursday.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Treasury Department has given the go-ahead for oil purchases from the opposition council.
