Colbert, Eminem take over Monroe cable access show
Stephen Colbert doesn’t take over as host of CBS’ “The Late Show” until fall, but he warmed up for the gig Tuesday by getting in front of the camera and taking over as host for “Only in Monroe,” a public access TV show in Monroe. If it sounds like a bizarre stunt, it is: the comedian played it straight while giving a tour through Monroe’s history (“Monroe is the birthplace of the La-Z-Boy. La-Z-Boy: Don’t sit there, that’s dad’s chair!”), sitting down with the show’s regular hosts and interviewing “a local Michigander who is making a name for himself in the competitive world of music” — Eminem. Colbert interviews Eminem for nearly 20 minutes, and they talk about Em’s influences, his route to get to the TV studio (“did you take I-75?” Colbert asks) and even getting Em to sing a few Bob Seger songs. Colbert’s production team reached out to MPACT, Monroe Public Access Cable Television, a few weeks ago, the station’s Beth Kern said Wednesday. The taping took place Tuesday afternoon and took several hours, and Kern says Colbert and his team were a pleasure to work with and be around. “It’s quite an honor,” she said.

Demo tracks for third Amy Winehouse album have been destroyed
David Joseph, chairman and CEO of Universal Music UK, has destroyed the demos for Amy Winehouse’s would-be third album. He told Billboard in an article published last week that it was a moral decision. “Taking a stem or a vocal is not something that would ever happen on my watch. It now can’t happen on anyone else’s,” he said. Also revealed in the Billboard article was that Winehouse had blown off two offers to appear on “Saturday Night Live” to promote her mega-hit second album “Black to Black.” The Amy Winehouse documentary, “Amy” — which features more than 100 interviews and archival footage — hits theaters Friday.
Jim Carrey miffed about California vaccination law
California Gov. Jerry Brown signed off on a law that increased vaccination requirements for California school children, and actor Jim Carrey is not happy about it. “California Gov says yes to poisoning more children with mercury and aluminum in manditory (sic) vaccines,” he tweeted, calling Brown a “corporate fascist.” Carrey insists he is pro-vaccine, just “anti-neurotoxin.” The comedian’s ex-girlfriend actress Jenny McCarthy is an autism activist and has stated that she believes her son’s autism was caused by vaccines.
