Even though the New York Giants sent team officials to a Miami hospital to check on the status of injured defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, the clubs contingent returned to New York without having met with the player, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday.
The person wasnt authorized to speak publicly about the situation and spoke under the condition of anonymity. The person added that the Giants were unaware of an ESPN report that Pierre-Pauls right index finger was amputated Wednesday, but that the team is primarily concerned about his long-term health.
