DERBY gt;gt; The Board of Aldermen has settled a three-year-old debt owed to its former finance director, Henry Domurad, who claimed he was forced to resign by the previous Staffieri administration.
The board during its June 25 meeting voted to pay Domurad $9,261.82 for unused vacation and sick days when he served as part-time finance director under former Mayor Anthony Staffieri. City officials said the payment covers three personal days, eight vacation days and 18 sick days that were owed to Domurad after he left the position in April 2012. At that time, the part-time position paid $60,000 annually.
Domurad currently works in City Hall as chief administrative assistant for Mayor Anita Dugatto, who beat Staffieri in the 2013 municipal election.
Aldermanic President Art Gerckens said Monday the previous Staffieri administration wanted aldermen to settle with Domurad #x201c;in excess of $58,000,#x201d; but aldermen rejected that settlement during two previous votes. Gerckens said he#x2019;s glad to see the matter resolved.
