Another Manic Monday for Libya

Soldiers loyal to Libyan Prime Minister Moammar Qaddafi began launching rocket attacks on the village of , southwest of the Libyan capital, in an effort to crush rebel forces there. Opposition fighters continue their assault on Qaddafi’s hometown of Sirte, along Libya’s Mediterranean coast. As of this morning Reuters reports that there is “no indication” that the port city has fallen into the hands of rebel forces despite earlier rumors to the contrary. Meanwhile in Tripoli, the government has released a woman who was detained after claiming she was gang-raped by four Qaddafi militiamen at a recent checkpoint inspection.
