CHICAGO, Jan. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, announced today that ADP®, a leading provider of business outsourcing solutions, has donated $500,000 to help fight hunger in America.

This is the third year in a row that ADP has donated $500,000 to Feeding America. The funds will be used to provide food to various food banks across the country that help feed more than four million Americans each week.

Feeding America’s network of more than 200 food banks serves all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, securing and distributing more than 2.5 billion pounds of food and grocery products annually. Those member food banks support approximately 61,000 local charitable agencies and 70,000 programs, which provide food directly to individuals and families in need. ADP’s $500,000 donation will help Feeding America provide food to 37 million low-income people facing hunger in the United States.

Across the board, food banks are witnessing an increased need for food as 1 in 6 Americans experience  hunger as a reality in their daily lives. Some food banks are even reporting that they are now providing emergency food to people who were once donors.  There are more than 35 million Americans at risk of hunger and the number is growing every day.
