ST. LOUIS – City leaders approved a finance plan to acquire land in north St. Louis Friday.
That property, about 100 acres near the intersection of N. Jefferson and Cass avenues, is one of four sites under consideration as the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency plans to relocate its western headquarters. Currently, the NGA is located in south St. Louis.
Earlier this year, the St. Louis Board of Alderman approved a bill authorizing eminent domain for the north St. Louis site. Supporters of the plan argued for keeping the 3,100 NGA jobs inside the city limits, while the opposition argued for the families who still live in 47 occupied homes in the area.
