Northpoint Shopping Center in Streator is under new management, effective July 1, with an eye toward breathing new life into the complex.
The property is now managed and leased by Greystone Realty Group and Coldwell Banker Devonshire Realty. It was formerly owned and operated by Fieldman Realty in Streator.
Wayne Fieldman owned and operated it for a number of years and has done a fabulous job through a tough recession, said Greystone Realty Group President Keith Weinstein, who also works for Coldwell Banker Devonshire. He brought us in to work in conjunction with Coldwell Banker Devonshire (which) will be doing leasing/management. From a leasing standpoint, we hope to bring in some anchor stores and bring in new life to the center.
Weinstein said the group is working with a number of brokers around the region to find tenants. He said while there are some prospective tenants, there are no deals in place.
The goal is to re-anchor and re-merchandise the shopping center, Weinstein said. We are working diligently with the city of Streator. This is a large project with many pieces and we are very fortunate to have the city as a strategic partner. Its an exciting opportunity. We believe the shopping center, with the right team, is poised to reinvigorate the retail mix as well as bring in the retailers that will service the retail leakage on a local and regular basis. We have completed a demand analysis on the area and are targeting those retailers that provide the services that have been lost through leakage.
The shopping center is under new management and the redevelopment team is in the position to ensure the shopping center is maintained to the highest standards, he added. Some of the architectural elements will be dictated by new anchors and will be on hold until those are in place. Our goal is to bring new retailers to the marketplace to enhance other retailers in the market and bring more business to the community as a whole.
