The United Nations are in search of $230,000,000 to fund humanitarian help from May to September for one million Libyan civilians affected by Libya’s on-going issue, a United Nations spokesman said Wednesday.

The demand for more funds was made by Valerie Amos, the United Nations humanitarian emergency administrator. This is due to the constant fighting, shortages of fuel and cash, and the decline of Libya’s infrastructure, spokesman Martin Nesirky said.

In March, the UN appealed for $160,000,000 and acquired $175,000,000 for urgent relief assistance to the civilian population as Moammer Gaddafi’s forces were battling with rebels in almost all of Libya’s major cities.

Nesirky said, more financial assistance is needed because shortages have resulted in serious problems that will impact the civilian population throughout the end of summer.
