Everyone loves movies based on their favorite comic book heroes. Hollywood, always aiming to please moviegoers, is releasing the new movie Thor on May 6. Based on the Marvel Comic superhero of the same name, the title character will be played by Australian actor Chris Hemsworth. American audiences may know the Aussie heartthrob from the last Star Trek movie where he played the legendary Captain Kirk’s father in the film’s opening scenes, or perhaps they saw him in the movie Ca$h.

Born in 1983 in Melbourne, Chris grew up around the art of acting; his brothers both acted on television. Following his education at Heathmont Secondary College in Melbourne, he began to act himself. While he first began his acting career in his native Australia, he soon came to Hollywood to try his craft on American shores.

Audiences will surely be thrilled as they see him bring the iconic Marvel character to life on the big screen.
