Uncertainty Looms In Libya

The United Nations Security Council has ordered a no-fly zone over Libya and air strikes to protect the civilians from Moammar Gaddafi’s soldiers. In return, Gaddafi agreed to a ceasefire to prevent any more civilians from being hurt and to keep in accordance with the UN resolution.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Obama are being cautious in reacting to this situation. Americans are not in favor of becoming involved in another country’s civil war. President Obama is pleased with Gaddafi’s decision to ceasefire, but is waiting to see if his orders are followed out. In addition to the ceasefire, Gaddafi must agree to pull back his ground troops and restore electricity, gas and water to all parts of the country.
