Due to the increasing fears of a radiation fallout due to the recent earthquake, a multitude of Scandinavian companies operating in Japan have offered to aid their employees in leaving Tokyo.
Ikea employs roughly 2000 people in Japan, and the firm has offered to help its employees who live in the surrounding area to the Kansai region which is located 190 miles south. The 90 foreign workers that Ikea has employed have been given the opportunity to leave the country.
Swedish fashion mogul H&M has hired roughly 900 Japanese nationals and has extended an offer for its employees who live in Yokohama and Tokyo to relocate to another area.
Atlas Copco has given its 200 members a similar offer. They have been given the option of moving to Nagoya and Osaka.
The fear of a potential nuclear disaster is reaching new heights due to a fire at the earthquake-damaged Fukushima atomic power plant.
