Shred-It Announces Divestiture of US-Based Facilities

Today, Shred-it announced the divestiture of its US-based records management business, operating under the Securit trade name, Recall Total Information Management Inc. Currently a world-leader in document destruction, Shred-It services 16 countries through 140 locations. The divestiture affects three US facilities located in Dallas, Chicago, and Birmingham. However, Shred-It remains committed to its leadership position in the US document destruction market.

The Shred-it President and CEO, Vince De Palma, told reporters the document management service is performing well in other markets, such as Canada, so the decision has been made to focus assets and resources on the more successful facilities. De Palma also indicated the Shred-It agenda may include some long term strategies which may be initiated by acquisitions in 2011.

US document destruction customers should not expect any disruption in service due to this change. In addition, customers of Securit utilizing Shred-it services will not experience changes in service.
