Hotel Crackdown

The Las Vegas police had no problem finding Ecstacy, cocaine & marijuana from the staff at the Hard Rock Hotel’s night club last year. One employee even organized the purchase of 7.2 grams of cocaine. Nevada regulators fined the resort over half a million dollars, the largest penalty in state history for a drug violation. Undercover investigations and interviews with present and past Hard Rock employees exposed an underground drug trade that lived up to the property’s sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll image.

Although it seems the Hard Rock casino got off easier than one would think,  the casino’s gaming license, which could of been lost, was spared. Still, it serves as a warning for the gaming industry. Gaming authority didn’t shut down the Hard Rock or ask for a management change.

Closing casinos could damage the state’s commercial-friendly appearance. It would make a state with the nation’s highest unemployment suffer thousands more unemployed.
