SANFORD (WGME) — An overnight fire in Sanford displaces 12 people. The Sanford Fire Chief says the call came in around 1:30 am Friday for a fire at an apartment building on River Street.
At 5 am, crews had the fire out, but were working on several trouble spots. The Red Cross is assisting the 12 people who lived in the three-story apartment building.
The fire chief believes the fire started in the back on the second floor and then spread up the backside of the building and into the attic.
No one was hurt.
